Robbi R. Sukardi, MBA, earned his undergraduate and graduate degrees and a Master of Business Administration specializing in finance from the Kogod School of Business at The American University, Washington, DC, USA. His early career was in the financial sector, working in investment securities and companies holding a brokerage and underwriter certified license back then, and with the Indonesian Bank Restructuring Agency, or BPPN, from 2000 to 2004, until he shifted to the oil & gas downstream sector business in 2005. Mr. Sukardi was a part-time lecturer in the Binus University MM and Graduate School of Business from 2007 to 2016 and had served 2 (two) terms as Chairman of the Indonesia LNG & CNG Companies Association, or Asosiasi Perusahaan LNG & CNG Indonesia (APLCNGI), until the year 2021. Currently he still serves as the Commissioner in APLCNGI and acts as the Senior Vice President for the Asia and Pacific Natural Gas Vehicle Association. During his service in the Association, Mr. Sukardi had been known as a strong advocate to the government for the use of BBG (Bahan Bakar Gas) or CNG as one of the selected fuels for public transportation vehicles. In June 2025, a new association in Indonesia was established in regard to the biomethane industry, called the Indonesia Biomethane Society, or Masyarakat Biomethane Indonesia (IBMS), whereby Mr. Sukardi, as one of the founding fathers, was elected to act as part of the Treasury Committee.
His experience in the CNG business sector started out in 2005, whereby he served as the Operational & Business Development Director for PT. Petross Gas, which is a privately held company providing CNG fuel for DKI Transjakarta buses. During this period, he had developed three CNG stations in Jakarta dedicated to the TransJakarta buses and public transportation. And in 2010, he established his own company, PT. Raja Rafa Samudra (“RRS Group”), with the vision to become the leading one-stop company serving the downstream gas sector business in Indonesia. and RRS Group specializes in CNG Advisory, CNG Transport, CNG Supply, CNG Infrastructure and Operatorship & Maintenance, CNG Truck Logistics, Gas Conversion Services, and BioMethane/CBG and development. RRS activities are done not only through its direct business unit but also through its 3 (three) sister companies, which are PT. Raja Gas Samudra (“RGS”), PT. Green Transportasi Indonesia (“GreenTrans”), and PT. Raja Gas Kharisma (“RGK”), which in 2018 and 2021 were awarded to develop and construct 2 (two) biogas utilization infrastructure value chains from methane capture plants, power generation, biogas upgrading to biomethane, compressed and biomethane, CBG distribution, and diesel to CBG conversion for trucks and gensets in Wahau, East Kalimantan.
Mr. Sukardi in the past 4 years since 2021 has been assigned as the Consultant Head for various and Biomethane Study work in Indonesia, including a Technical and Economic Feasibility Study to and develop Compressed Biomethane Gas in South Sumatra, Advisory and Study on the Potential and Market for Biomethane Gas for the West Java region, Biogas Feedstock Study for Biomethane and Utilization for the Toyota Tsusho Corporation from year 2021 – 2023, GIZ consultant for various and study and work in regards to the biomethane development in Indonesia, and a Front-End and Engneering Design (FEED) work and Biogas POME Feedstock Assesment Study by a Consortium, and which include the state-own Company PGN, JGC, Daigas, and Inpex, for the purpose of and biomethane pipeline injection to the South Sumatra West Java pipeline transmission grid. And currently, he continues to be active in developing new projects within the CNG, LNG, and Bio-CNG for the purpose of a better clean environment.
